Steelman Racing Open Water Classic will be held on May 16th, 2021, at Marsh Creek State Park in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. This race is the first event in the 2021 Steelman Racing Open Water Swim Series, and it is the perfect way for both swimmers and triathletes to start their racing season! It is perfect for the veteran swimmer looking to test their endurance, or for new swimmers or triathletes looking to get some more experience swimming in an open water setting. The Steelman Racing Open Water Classic provides the awesome combination of clear, mid 60’s degree water temperatures in a safe, well-supported racing experience. Swimmers can choose from the 1, 2, or 3 mile individual age group competition or the three-mile relay completed by two or three different swimmers (each completing a one-mile leg of the swim). Awards are presented to the top overall male/female, top overall male/female/ co-ed relays, and three deep in age divisions from 13 and under to 80+ years old. After the race, all athletes will be treated to an awesome post-race party with tons food and music. We hope to see you out there at this year’s Steelman Racing Open Water Classic!
The following policies are in place to give you, the athlete, as much flexibility and notice as possible within a framework that allows us to continue putting on high quality races. All the policies listed below are listed and agreed to by the athlete during the registration process.

TRANSFERS – We do not allow transfers to any other race or person for any reason! Penalties for picking up your race packet and allowing someone else to use it are a one year suspension by USAT and the potential for being sued by your friend if they get hurt in the event.
INCLEMENT WEATHER – In the event of inclement the following procedure will be followed: The event will be postponed for 30-45 minutes in hopes the inclement weather will pass. If the inclement weather does not pass within this time frame, the event will be changed to a bike-run. Every effort will be made to have this event on time on this date. If conditions are deemed to be unsafe, versus just challenging, we will cancel the event. All races are different, but know that we plan our events to go on rain or shine. Therefore, if it is just raining, we will race.
ATHLETE NOTIFICATION – If there is impending inclement weather (hurricane, thunderstorms, etc), we will make periodic updates via email and our Facebook page. We do not make these decision lightly and they are made in conjunction with the host community Police and EMS teams. If we need to cancel the event, we will give as much notice to the athletes as we possibly can.
EVENT CANCELLATION – Should an event be cancelled due to an Act of God or circumstances beyond the control of the event we will give athletes a credit good for 50% of your registration fee for any race produced by our team in the following year.
