Welcome to the Inaugural Big NYC Swim! The Coney Island Beach is an ocean-side neighborhood located in Brooklyn has nearly 3 miles of sandy beaches. Swim under the historic parachute jump, pass the NY Aquarium and around the Cyclone. The swim follows an out and back course. Site is located near the all great restaurants and entertainment you need to make your race day even more enjoyable for you and your friends. Enjoy!

Take the Q train to Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. Station. Walk south on Stillwell Ave. towards the Boardwalk. Turn right and walk to the Parachute Jump. Check the MTA planner for train schedule. In google maps search for The Parachute Jump.

The swim is along the Shore. We plan to start by the Steeplechase Pier in Coney Island. 1 milers will complete the loop twice. You can get out at any point since you’ll be swimming parallel to the shoreline – just be sure to notify a volunteer or race official and turn in your race chip and tell us that today just wasn’t your day. We’ll provide the support: well marked course with buoys, kayakers, NYPD Harbor Patrol, Lifeguards on Kayaks, EMTs.
TIMING THE AMENITIES
Plaque awards will be given to the top three male and female runners overall. Age group awards will be awarded to the top three in each of the following age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over. Our awards ceremony banner is customized to every race.
There will only be packet pick up for this event on race day. Meet at 7:00 a.m. at the Parachute Jump on the Boardwalk. You will need picture I.D. to pick up your bib.
You must be comfortable swimming in the ocean.
Race numbers are required to participate – no bandits please.
All participants must sign both the USA Swimming waiver and the City Tri Runs waiver form.
You must be at least 14 years old to participate.
You must be in good health and physically prepared to take on the challenge.
You must show photo ID to receive your race number and timing tag.
If you attempt to sell your race number, you may be banned from future racing.
Sorry we do not provide refunds of any kind.
Up to 4 weeks prior to the event: Participants will be eligible to transfer their race entry, to another event in our calendar. Participants will receive a 50% credit of their current year’s entry fee to be applied to any CITYTRI race. You must choose the race you want to transfer to in advance. To redeem your credit please email alejandrareagan[at]hotmail.com.
Within 4 weeks to the event: Participants will pay a $25. transfer fee to receive the credit to another event.
Registration Category Changes (Race Distance Changes):
Participants will be eligible to change their race category (change between race distances) up until 14 days before race day, through the MyEvents portal. After this date, runners will need to email to make an entry update.
Purchase Event Protection:
Booking Protect is offered through the ACTIVE Network, and provides insurance to runners so that they can get their entry fees back if they can’t participate in running events for covered reasons. The product, called Booking Protect, is located in the registration path on Active and can be purchased on the Check-Out page. All claims and refunds will go through Booking Protect.
There is NO rain date, We Go Rain or Shine. In case of inclement weather, management reserves the right to cancel/alter/modify the race/course for safety concerns. In any case there will be No Refunds of race entry fees. Each athlete must accept any such risk of their entry fee paid. There is no complimentary race entry to a future race. All monies collected are used to develop and produce the event, including all race supplies, staffing, and administration. We pledge to make every effort to produce a fair, safe and exciting event for all. Any decision we make to go forth with the race is based on the overall event safety.
