With a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in biochemistry as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University in 2001 and a specialist in molecular pharmacology at Stanford University Medical School, Annette is also a board member of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
Her experiences as an elite Olympic athlete, combined with her scientific background, is a tremendous asset to USADA’s mission to provide clean athletes a safe and level playing field.
With that goal in mind, Annette accepted the opportunity to begin education and outreach for the open water community about doping issues that can plague any competitive or Olympic sport.
It is a perspective and an education valuable for those interested in seeing the sport of open water swimming remain clean and drug-free. Annette will speak on Saturday, June 18th at the Global Open Water Swimming Conference and then will join the open water luminaries and fans at the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame awards ceremonies at the United Nations on June 19th.
