My goal is to teach you how to swim faster with less effort in a safe environment, while you enjoy the freedom of exploring some of the most amazing open water swimming in the world.
During the week-long camp you will gain confidence while improving your speed, technique and endurance. Best of all…you will go home with a FASTER FREESTYLE.
In addition to the five open water swims in variety of locations, you will also receive TWO private sessions in Karlyn’s Endless Pool with detailed video analysis. Experience measurable improvements right away!
Safety first: We keep the camp to only eight participants so you receive the attention you need to feel more comfortable in the water while becoming a better swimmer. We will also provide at least two Red Cross rescue-trained staff members at every swim.
Video feedback: During the week, we will be filming you to provide valuable feedback so that you can continue to improve as the camp progresses. We will also be taking fun pictures and videos of our amazing adventures so you can share these pics on social media and with your envious friends back home.
It’s more than just swimming: All Faster Freestyle Swim Camps offer activities OUTSIDE the water such as hiking, yoga and exploring along with lots fun, friendship and great FOOD!
Where we swim: We are blessed to have plenty of warm, clear water available for our open water swims. However, due to the ever changing ocean conditions, the daily schedule will be decided a few days prior to the camp and is also subject to change. Gratefully, we have a variety of locations to choose from such as: Kailua Pier, Kua Bay, A-Bay, Two-Step, Keauhou, Mauna Lani and Mahukona just to name a few.
Swim Distances: Each swim starts and finishes at the same location, so the length of swim can be based on your energy level and conditions. All swims are supported by safety staff members that are certified by the Red Cross for Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid along with an experienced SUP paddle boarder. If at any time the conditions are deemed unsafe, the swim will be moved to a new location.
Schedule: Most days we meet at 8:00 am and the swim/brunch/social portion ends at 11:00 am 0r 12 noon. However, we offer additional (optional) opportunities like hiking, yoga, gelato stops and visiting historical Hawaiian sites after our swim, so for planning purposes a 2 pm finish time is what you can expect.
Welcome dinner and first lesson: The first day of camp begins with a WELCOME dinner and safety briefing at Karlyn’s home. We will also schedule your first private session in the Endless Pool earlier on this day, or sooner if you arrive on island before the camp starts.
Swim ability: All Faster Freestyle Swim Camps are open to adults of all ages. You do not need be a speedy swimmer, but ideally you should be comfortable in the open water and able to swim continuously 1,500 meters (about a mile) at a steady pace. If you are questioning whether you think you are “fast enough” to participate in a camp, please reach out to me to discuss your situation. After all, the name and goal of every camp is to help you learn an easier and faster way to swim. If a small-group camp is outside your comfort zone, perhaps a private mini-camp will suit you better.
