The 32K 56th annual Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean, the richest race (US$40,000) on the 2010 FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix circuit, is today and can be seen starting at 2 pm New York time via a delayed webcast here.

Watch 25 of the world’s best marathon swimmers tackle the lake that was about 16°F (61°F) yesterday.

“The start was incredible,” reported Dr. Jim Miller, the FINA Sports Medicine Delegate at the race. “It was a beautiful morning with a bright sky and warm. The start was 18°C with the lake 17°C.”
