No sooner than swimmers complete an open water swim, then they are either asked – or question themselves – on what is the next swim on their agenda.
“What’s next? What are your future plans? What are you thinking of doing as a follow-up?“
These are the common questions asked by friends, family and fans no matter what the distance or difficulty of the swim. Once the bar of achievement is raised, so it seems that expectations for future achievements are similarly raised.
And how many times do these questions arise even before the swimmer has dried off?
Think of a swimmer like Ned Denison who just completed a Robben Island swim. He keeps pushing himself and inspiring others. Today, he completed the Robben Island crossing in 1 hour 59 minutes, as he tucked under 2 hours without stopping for a feed.
