When Ky Hurst And Yasu Fukuoka Meet Outside The Open Water

Ky Hurst of Australia and Yasu Fukuoka of Japan were once fierce rivals in Olympic marathon swimming. Hurst finished 11th in 2008 in Beijing and 20th in 2012 in London. Fukuoka finished 15th in 2012 in London and 8th in 2016 in Rio. They also competed frequently on the FINA professional marathon swimming circuit.
But Fukuoka has now launched a growing fashion brand called I Swim And Travel Around The World. The former competitors – who used to bump elbows and fight for position around turn buoys – are now collaborating and partnering like the best of friends.
Fukuoka explains his new brand, “I Swim And Travel Around The World is a swimming-centric fashion brand and label, the first authentic clothing brand for swimmers. We design jackets, jeans, sweatshirts, shirts, baseball and knit caps, t-shirts, cases and towels specifically for swimmers.”
