Where’s The Warmest Open Body Of Water?

The warmest average open body of water is the Salton Sea in California with an average water temperature of 92.4 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Salton Sea was created by a mistake when the runoff from the Colorado River flooded the Imperial Valley for 18 months before engineers could stem the flood. As a result, the unintended artificially created lake has a surface elevation is 69 meters below sea level with an average depth of 9 meters.

It will be site of one of Kate Greene‘s last cross-country Adventure Swims.
