From our perspective, it is hard to find an open water swimmer who enjoys training and travel, challenges and competition more than Japan’s two-time Olympian Yasunari Hirai who is always on the go with a huge smile. His appreciation of the opportunities he receives and the people he meets during his open water swimming journeys around the world is genuinely and deeply felt.

Inductee in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame (Honor Swimmer, Class of 2001) and Ice Swimming Hall of Fame (Honor Contributor - Media, Class of 2019), recipient of the International Swimming Hall of Fame's Poseidon Award (2016), International Swimming Hall of Fame's Irving Davids-Captain Roger Wheeler Memorial Award (2010).
