Who Is This Exceptional Swimmer?
During the Swim of Peace Ouma – Djerba event on June 2nd at Athenée Beach in Djerba, Tunisia, over 450 children and teenagers took to the Mediterranean Sea under the watchful eye of Nejib Belhedi, Adam Walker, and Jackie Cobell.There was a lot of enthusiasm and excitement. But one young man stood out with exceptional aquatic abilities and an incredible passion for open water swimming.
A photo was taken of him before the event, but with all the crowds, activities, and excitement of the unprecedented Ouma event in Tunisia, the young man’s name and whereabouts were not later identified.
His potential is vast, and Belhedi wants to help this young man reach his full potential as an open water swimmer.

Southern California native, born 1962, is the creator of the WOWSA Awards, Oceans Seven, Openwaterpedia, Citrus Corps, World Open Water Swimming Association, Daily News of Open Water Swimming, Global Open Water Swimming Conference. He is Chief Executive Officer of KAATSU Global and KAATSU Research Institute. Hummer Award (2007, 2010) and Harvard University's John B. Imrie Award (1984). Served on the FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee and as Technical Delegate with the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games, and 9-time USA Swimming coaching staff.
