As I went to the beach to do some ocean swimming, I was listening to Rich Roll interview Sylvia Earle, PhD on Resilience, Hope & Mysteries of the Deep (Episode 660 of the Rich Roll Podcast).

As I was listening to Dr. Earle, a famed marine botanist, oceanographer, writer, author of 20 books, lecturer, Chief Scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and one of the world’s top experts on ocean science and conservation, I encountered an ugly situation on the shores of Huntington Beach in Southern California.
