World Cup Stage Two In Viedma This Saturday

While their ultra-marathon swimming colleagues are tackling an 88K swim down the Paraná River, the second stage of the shorter FINA 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup will be held in Viedma, Argentina this Saturday, February 4th.

The tough-nosed competition will feature 19 of the world’s top women and 24 of the men’s top men. After mixing it up last week in Brazil, it will be interesting to see how the swimmers adapt to the conditions and modify their racing tactics.

Four-time Olympian Cecilia Biagioli of Argentina (shown above), Brazil’s Ana Marcela Cunha who took third place in last week’s stop in Santos, Angela Maurer, second-place last week, Nadine Reichert will be in the hunt on the women’s side.

Meanwhile, Andreas Waschburger of Germany and Evgeny Drattsev of Russia will give chase to last week’s winner and 10K world champion Spyridon Gianniotis of Greece.
