The World's Greatest Urban Open Water Course

The World’s Greatest Urban Open Water Course

Nova International out-does themselves again – and ups the ante in the open water world. The television coverage of the British Gas Great Salford Swim was outstanding over the world’s most interesting urban open water course. Andy Caine, who has worked so hard over the years to get the world’s best open water swimmers to the British Gas Great Swims, announced that the Great Salford Swim is now up online here. The aerial coverage was greatly appreciated and the exposure of the wetsuits must have been greatly appreciated by their manufacturers. Customized with the swimmer’s names, it was a bit of a change of pace for the English Channel world record holder Petar Stoychev who just won in cold water down in Cape Town just a few weeks ago. Thomas Lurz proved his superiority as he took off right from the beginning and held off all surges from the top Olympians and world-class field. He just took it out, testing out a slightly different tactic … perhaps a precursor to something he may pull out later this year at the world championships. “I had a really good start and decided to keep the lead to the finish. It worked out for me. It is good when you start leading due to the turns in the course.” The coverage from the water was also great. The announcers gave expert commentary throughout the urban open water source. Enjoy here. Copyright © 20008 – 2011 by World Open Water Swimming Association
