He renders the maps of his marathon swims from GIS data. He explains the purpose of making the maps, “My goal was to get some practice plotting GPS data from my watch and other sources.”
His beautiful artwork – a study of his passion for the sport – includes his swims across the English Channel, Catalina Channel, Strait of Gibraltar, and around Manhattan Island.
The map on left shows his course across the Strait of Gibraltar between Spain and Morocco swum in 4 hours 9 minutes in 2017.
The map on left shows his course between Santa Catalina Island and the Southern California mainland on Palos Verdes peninsula completed in 11 hours 4 minutes in 2016.
The map below shows his course between England and France across the English Channel swum in 12 hours 17 minutes in 2018.
On the home page of the Daily News of Open Water Swimming, the map shows one day of training at his local training venue, Aquatic Park in San Francisco Bay, California.
